Williamson Bible Institute

Student Handbook

WBI Student Picture IDs
We have begun work to make Student IDs available to any WBI student that would like one.  This can be helpful for lots of things, but especially to gain access to college libraries.  If you would like to have one, please send your request to Judy Burnell at JBurnell@belairnazarene.org.

ABSENTEE POLICY

A.     Because the Williamson Bible Institute education experience assumes that a significant portion of learning takes place in the classroom, regular class attendance is required.

1.  For illness, family emergencies and/or work related problems, a student may miss a total of one class session (3 1/2) hours) in any course without explanation or penalty.

2.  Absences beyond this first session will result in the reduction of one grade step (e.g., B to B-) per session, regardless of the reason.

3.  No credit will be given for a class after missing three (3) sessions of class.

B.     Students may make up an absence by completing extra class assignments on the basis of two hours for each class hour (50 minutes) missed.

1.      Make-up assignments are given at the discretion of the instructor.

2.      Make-up work must be completed within three (3) weeks of the missed class session.

C.  For courses offered in an intensive format there will be no allowed absence, although one absence can be made up at the instructor’s discretion.

ACADEMIC HONESTY STATEMENT
(Adapted from Nazarene Bible College.  Used by permission)

Honesty in all academic endeavors is vital as an expression of the Christian life. It is required that students at Williamson Bible Institute will not participate in cheating, plagiarism*, or other forms of academic dishonesty nor encourage or condone such behavior by permitting it and/or allowing it to go unreported. All assignments must be the student’s original work for the course in which the material is submitted. When a student utilizes work that is not his/her own, proper credit must be given to the source of the information.

Academic dishonesty is a serious violation of morality, and academic integrity. The minimum penalty for academic dishonesty will be failure of the assignment. More stringent measures may include failure of the course, disciplinary probation, or disciplinary suspension.

*Plagiarism is using another’s words or works as one’s own without properly crediting the original source.
